Hendrikje Spengler
After graduating from high school and training as a publishing clerk at DuMont Buchverlag in Cologne, she studied cultural studies at the University of Hildesheim and spent time abroad in Paris.
This was followed by three seasons as a consultant at the Schauspielhaus Salzburg, Austria’s largest independent theatre.
In 2013, she moved to Kulturforum Witten, where she managed the Saalbau + Haus Witten cultural and event centre until 2020.
Since 2020, she has headed the Cultural Office of the City of Dortmund. The cultural office is a moderator and versatile contact for cultural projects and artistic initiatives in Dortmund. It sees itself as a mediator, contact and cooperation partner for Dortmund’s creative artists and players in the independent cultural scene. With over six million euros per year, it supports artists and cultural professionals, advises projects and initiatives and initiates cultural collaborations. Together with its numerous partners, it reaches over half a million visitors a year with around 18 employees in various fields.
