Dirk von Lowtzow

Dirk von Lowtzow, born in 1971 in Offenburg/Baden, founded the rock band Tocotronic together with Arne Zank and Jan Müller in Hamburg in 1993. Since 1995, 13 Tocotronic albums have been released, the latest being »Nie wieder Krieg« in 2022. From 1999 to 2014 he also released five albums with the experimental duo Phantom Ghost, together with

Thies Mynther. Dirk von Lowtzow has also worked as an art critic since 1999. He has written numerous catalogue contributions and reviews, mainly for the magazine Texte zur Kunst.

In 2015, together with the playwright and director René Pollesch, he produced the opera »One who moved out because he could no longer afford the rent« at the Berliner Volksbühne. He composes theatre and film music, most recently for the internationally successful film »Styx« by Wolfgang Fischer, and is involved in radio play and audio book productions (including »Tryptichon« by Christian Kracht).
