Catnapp
Catnapp (Amparo Battaglia Lopez) combines R&B, rap, breakbeat, pop, drum and bass and other genres resulting in an intense and nostalgic atmosphere with heavy beats. In her lyrics she speaks about love, anger and hate, but also about fear, darkness and nightmarish memories. Her music can go from the simplest 4/4 beat to broken experimental percussion with deep, huge pads and synths, resulting in a unique and original sound. Now based in Berlin, Catnapp is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Having started in 2010, Catnapp continuously mutates and evolves.
In 2017 she founded the label ‘NAPP Records’. In 2019 she released her first LP »BREAK« on Monkeytown Records which featured a collaboration with Modeselektor (»The Mover«) and has been widely successful.
Her Eps »Fear« and »No Cover« were released in 2018 also through Monkeytown Records.
Having released 7 EPs, 5 LPs, 3 Remix Albums and 6 Singles, she performed numerous times at Berghain (Berlin), Boiler Room (Berlin), Fusion (Berlin), Melt (Berlin), SXSW (Austin), Sonar (Barcelona), Reeperbahnfestival (Hamburg & Beijing) and many others.
She participated from Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp 2015. Collaborated with Nocturnal Sunshine aka Maya Jane Coles, Otto von Schirach, Douster, South Rakkas, El Plvybxy, IXXF, and companies like Ableton, Native Instruments and Roland. Her tracks Flame Bitch, YPMH and Back were selected by Rihanna for her fashion show at NY Fashion Week on 9/2018. In 2019 she starred in the Emmy awarded Netflix hit-series »Unorthodox«, which also featured two songs of her album »BREAK« and brought her to worldwide fame. In 2020 Deutsche Welle did a video feature about Catnapp’s handling of the pandemic. In 2020 she released her »Damage EP«, which was accompanied by her immersive commissioned work »Damage Experience« for Pop-Kultur Festival 2020.
Catnapp is set to release her second album on Monkeytown Records called »TRUST« in May 2022, which features several artists including Modeselektor (who appear twice on the LP), Aamourecean, Methone, O.L.I.V.I.A., John Debt, and wilo.
