Freundlich

The son of a Filipino-American soldier and a German geriatric nurse, Freundlich grew up in a small village in Middle Franconia, finding himself caught between two worlds even as a child. He was an outsider and an entertainer, Franconian and Filipino, always searching for a place to belong. He was influenced early on by his parents’ music: rap and rock from his father, punk and grunge from his mother.

He started beatboxing at the age of eight and wrote his first lyrics at 15. At 16, he had a key experience: a close friend died in an accident and Freundlich wrote a song for his funeral. When the deceased’s parents thanked him for the song with tears in their eyes, he realized the power that music can have. Since then, he has pursued the vision of not only entertaining with his music, but also providing real support.
