Leonie Schöler

Leonie Schöler, born in 1993, is a historian, journalist, and host for videos and podcasts, who, in her work, imparts historical knowledge in an innovative and accessible manner and advocates tirelessly for women in history and in general.

 

In Spring 2024, her first non-fiction book »Beklaute Frauen« (»Robbed Women«) was published by Penguin. This work sheds light on the sad truth of how women write history but men claimed the fame for it. It shows overseen history of women that over time were stripped off their arccomplishments and rights. The book is celebrated as substantial contribution to equality and historical education and instantly became Spiegel Bestseller.

 

On her popular TikTok and Instagram channels (@heeyleonie), she wows over 230.000 followers with exciting insights into historical events, and current political developments. Her unique approach in conveying complex topics in a fun and informative way has turned her into a prominent voice in the digital education landscape.

 

As editor and filmmaker, Leonie has worked for different ZDF productions, as well as FUNK, among them, »Jäger und Sammler«, the »Y-Kollektiv«, and »Auf Klo«. Her documentary about the system Tönnies, produced in Summer 2021 for ZDFinfo and the eight-part web-video series about the Wansee conference for the ZDF relased in January 2022 showcase her ability to present profound historical topics in a captivating manner.

 

Since November 2022, Leonie Schöler hosts the ZDFinfo format »Heureka« on YouTube, where as a historian, she explains complex historical contexts, making them accessible for a broad audience.
