KiTZ

KiTZ / Anna Illenberger (*1984 in Stuttgart), the singer, sound and performance artist, gained her first experiences as a self-taught artist in her studio in the Wagenhallen Stuttgart. There she founded her first band ANNAGEMINA. She has made numerous stage appearances and has released more than 10 recordings in recent years. She has already received several awards and nominations for her conceptual theater music productions and film scores (including Best Film Music »The Daughter«; Toronto Canada).

In 2020 she released her first solo album under the name KiTZ. The basis of her compositions is always improvisation, which is then elaborated. She works intensively on electronic sound research and experiments with various improvisation techniques using digital and analog instruments, effect devices and the voice. She is driven by the fusion of experimental pop music, performance and visual art. The alienation of photographs is an important addition to her music. The deliberate separation and fragmentation reflects the sampling process in her music. Her project »Lostsongs« was published online at the end of 2021. Here she mixes her art and music in her own virtual gallery. KiTZ’s experimental approach stands out in the German pop landscape and invites the listener to engage with the sonic disruptions and unexpected twists.

KiTZ released the LP »Blase« on the 10th of February 2024 via Ghost Note and Selfcare Records. »Blase« is a poetic Gesamtkunstwerk that was created in close collaboration with producer Ralv Milberg. It was recorded in an elaborate 180-degree installation of various loudspeakers and amplifiers, as a symbiosis of digital and analog instruments and effect devices. The German-language songs have an immediate power and intensity that can be experienced here as a concept album. On »Blase«, KiTZ creates a unique electronic pop sound that bridges the gap between the charisma of the great pop stars of the 70s and a contemporary intimate sound aesthetic.
