Hanna Araujo Ulmer
Hanna Araujo Ulmer is a Germany-based artist who has been studying at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart since 2020. With a primarily performative practice, her work explores the dynamics of plurality and complicates contemporary dualisms, being very curious about practices of cultural syncretism. Born and raised in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, Ulmer’s research focuses on the pervasive effects of colonial violence embedded in Brazil’s collective consciousness, emphasizing music and dance as tools for cultural redefinition. Her recent works have been presented at the Linden-Museum, the State Museum of Ethnology in Stuttgart, Germany, at Serpent à Plume in Paris, France, and at the Klein and Haring music festival in the northern Black Forest, among others.
